My Oobleck questions.

Question -  Is Oobleck solid or liquid
I’d say that Oobleck is both because when the cornstarch particles mash together with the water particles, they pack together but when you release pressure, they split up and become a liquid.

Hypothesis: (what you think will happen)
Before, I thought the cornstarch and the water would mix and create just some thick version of water. It does make sense now on how it works because pressure will mash stuff up. If you got two pieces of playdoh and you mash it together, it becomes one piece of playdoh, its kinda like that in a way.

Materials: water and cornstarch (food coloring if you want), a bowl and a cup and also a spoon.

Step- by- Step Procedure

First, add one cup of water into the bowl. And then kinda slowly start adding 1.5 cups of cornstarch

Next, start mixing with a spoon at first but shortly after start using your hands.

Then, keep adding cornstarch until it gets thick and gooey.

Last, if it went well, put the oobleck in plastic if you want to keep it in your pocket! If it turned to liquid you did something wrong!

Observations;
This is what Oobleck looks like:
(it’s wrapped in plastic). -----------^

These are the tests you carried out you must answer each question with a minimum of 2 sentences (more would be better).
  1. How did it behave when you slapped it?
It was pretty painful because it turned hard. It kinda felt like a rock was soft. Does that make sense?

  1. What happened when you placed a blob of oobleck on the table and poked it after a minute? How did it behave?
When I poked it a let go, I left a hole in the blob, then it turned back into a liquid and slowly filled the hole back up.

  1. What happened when you dipped your finger into the oobleck and slowly moved them around the bowl?
The pressure of my fingers made it sink and then it was stuck, it was very hard to move around.

  1. What happened if you moved them faster?
It would move, slowly… it just kind of stuck to my fingers so I was just pulling oobleck out of the bowl.

  1. What happened when you threw an oobleck ball in the air? (Did it retain its shape or not?)
It didn’t really, the time that it was in the air gave it a little bit of time to start moving but I think the fall mashed it together again.

  1.  When you pushed it how did it react?
It just puffed back up, but when it got up it started to melt because there was no pressure on it anymore.

  1. When you picked it up, did it all come up?
No. only a bit of it that stuck to my fingers was the part that came out.

  1. What happened when you poured it?
It slowly dripped down and then it started to fall and IT WAS SO SATISFYING!

  1. What happens with the shape of it?
You can mold it, but when you are finished it will probably melt so I don’t think you should waste your time molding oobleck.

Analyze Your Observations:
Before I thought that Oobleck was a solid and a liquid and in a way I was right but I was also wrong. It is a non-newtonian fluid, a material of a liquid solid and a liquid combined, when it gets pressure on it the molecules mash into a solid and then turns back into a liquid.

What is your conclusion? (result)

In conclusion the non-newtonian fluid known as Oobleck has a very interesting way on how its molecules work, I strongly recommend making some Oobleck so you can see how fun it is! Also… IT GETS EVERYWHERE!!!

CLAUSTROPHOBIA.

Don't you just love scary stories? well I do. This is my scary story called claustrophobia. it's a story about a guy that kidnaps people and throws them in a small space. him and a kid (with no free will) go around and kidnap people, kill them, and take their money!

MY SHOES

THIS IS MY PLASTIC HIGH HEELS. IT TOOK A WHILE TO MAKE. I MADE IT OUT OF PLASTIC AND HOT WATER. BY THAT I MEAN I MELTED PLASTIC IN HOT WATER AND THEN MOULDED IT INTO A HIGH HEEL. I MADE A HIGH HEEL BY TRYING TO MAKE A SNEAKER!

THE IMPOSSIBLE

THE IMPOSSIBLE.
She pulled down on the chain with her left hand, steering herself towards her target. It was supposed to be the most exciting birthday present ever; a hot air balloon ride. However, Alice had been hanging on for dear life for over 100KM (since the basket of the hot air balloon had fallen off). She was now getting used to steering the huge balloon by manoeuvring her body, leaning to the left or to the right.

Terrified yet excited at the same time, Alice could just about make out her house and garden far below. It was the one surrounded by trees straight ahead, wasn’t it? She took a deep breath and focused… but it didn’t go the way Alice thought…
She was almost there but she started to panic again. Her hands started to get sweaty and her arms were getting tired. She then slipped! And she hit  her brick roof and fell onto the hard concrete path. She woke up! She was still on the ground but she didn’t feel any pain. She brushed her blonde hair out of her face and saw her parents in a panic asking if she was okay.
“I’m fine guys” she said
“Uhhh… You don’t seem fine…” the dad said
“YOU JUST FELL OUT OF THE SKY!!!” the mum screamed.
 “But I’m fine!” she said.
“I’m NOT having this. We are taking you to the hospital!” said the mum
‘(sigh) so much for my morning birthday adventure’ Alice thought.

No matter how many times Alice told them that she was fine, they would never believe her. They would say something like, ‘you must’ve damaged your body and now you are all numb so you can’t feel a thing!’ or something dumb like that. It did look bad when she saw that her new bright red puffer jacket was all ripped up.
When they arrived Alice went straight into the E.R to get an X-ray. What the doctors found was shocking…
The doctor had a chat with the girl and her parents and explained that he had never seen anything like it… her bones were not crushed, they were completely fine and the reason why was going to change her life for good.
The X-rays showed that her bones were made out of SOLID CHROMIUM!
She was shocked… her bones were made out of one of the hardest metals on the planet! Did she hear that right? Did she need to take off her pink fluffy earmuffs to hear correctly?
Her parents were in disbelief… they asked how this could have happened and the doctors said that they had no idea… They asked if maybe the dad or mum had the same medical condition, but after the scans, they learned that they had a normal human skeleton.

She felt like she was an abomination. She figured her parents didn’t want anything to do with her but they just looked at her in silence and said “it’s time to go home…”  Alice had a horrible nightmare! She had a dream that her parents got pickaxes and started to harvest her bones! The last thing she heard was: “these will sell handsomely” from her mother. She woke up, terrified about what had happened but luckily, it was just a dream. She was hoping that maybe the chromium bones were also a dream so she decided to knock on her arm. BANG BANG BANG! Went her arm when she knocked on it.
“Great. I’m still an abomination” she said to herself. It was Monday so she had to go to school. When she went there, everybody was looking at her with shock and disgust. What? She thought did they know? She figured out that her parents must’ve told the news.
Then a person spoke up, “LOOK! WALKING MONEY!”
he punched them in the face with her metal fist.
“I just got punched in the face by $1890000… that's awesome!” he said. Alice stormed off in a rage. Why me? What did I do? She felt like a girl in a gacha-life story with a massive twist. She then realised that she was a walking $1890000. Each bone of hers was like 7000 dollars! she could be so rich….
She sold all the bones that she didn’t need and she became the richest person on the planet and they all lived happily ever after.
THE END.
But she wondered how? How and why are her bones like that? Well, she was a spoiled brat! And she was already pretty rich! So she was born and drank melted chromium as milk! So eventually the chromium went into her skeleton and she had a chromium skeleton after that!

THE END.

How I coped with lockdown

HOW I COPED WITH LOCKDOWN
Hi, my name is Ethan and this is my story of Covid-19.
When I was 12 years old, my country went into lockdown due to a very bad and tragic disease.
My mother actually put my family in lockdown a day before the entire country got put in lockdown, which I thought was a pretty funny coincidence. I felt kind of happy about all this because I thought it was for the best and I never really thought about what was happening so I wouldn’t panic.
When I wasn’t doing school work I started to crave peanut butter on toast and lollies and I also binged watched my favourite shows like the Simpsons and stuff like that.
This became a habit and I kept on doing it. I had a daily routine.
  1. Wake up
  2. Eat breakfast
  3. Go on my phone
  4. Go on my swing
  5. Repeat number 3 and 4 for the rest of the day
  6. Go to bed.
It was pretty unhealthy but me doing this was the only way that would clear my mind about everything that is happening.
I started getting very territorial with my room. When my sister would come in, I would think about her breaking all my stuff and I would block my door with a bed so she wouldn’t get in. Luckily this stopped halfway through the lockdown.
I also started counting the days when I was in lockdown but I gave up after week 3.
When we actually started getting normal school work from our teacher it made me happy because I had something to keep me busy! And with all this time I had at home, I started to have really vivid dreams. I found out that most people were having dreams like mine! If I wanted to describe my dreams it would be like, I was trapped in my mind and I felt as if I had nobody… I almost felt like a ghost. I couldn’t decide if I was dreaming or if I was in real life. I got my answer when I would wake up.
I started to play games with friends and keep in touch with them on my phone so it made me happy that I had somebody to talk to!
My routine started to get better as I no longer craved peanut butter but I think the lollie craving was just normal as I was a child. I started to wake up and go on hangouts with my class and it would always make me happy that I was having social events!

It made me glad when we started to move down to level two! My mum has a boyfriend and he has two kids Ry and Lily and they are like family to me! When we were in lockdown, I couldn’t see them so I was really happy when I finally got to see them again! My life got much better after we started moving down levels because I could spend the nights at my grandparents again and see Ry and Lily again! I never thought that I would be so affected by all of this, it was a crazy adventure! I am writing this while I am in lockdown and I hope to be at school next week!
